Describe your college experience
Transitioning to college has been both exciting and meaningful for me, especially as a first‑generation student who moved away from my home state to pursue my education. Adjusting to a new environment pushed me to become more independent, confident, and open to new experiences. I’ve enjoyed meeting people from different backgrounds, finding my place on campus, and learning how to balance academics with everything else college offers. Overall, my experience so far has been full of growth, discovery, and new connections, and I love sharing that perspective with visitors who are beginning to imagine their own college journey.
Tip for future students
One tip I’d share with future students is to give yourself time and space to adjust—especially if you’re moving away from home or navigating college as a first‑generation student like I am. It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed at first, but getting involved, asking questions, and reaching out for support makes a huge difference.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been Qualitative Research (IAFF 2101) because it’s incredibly hands‑on and encourages a “learn by doing” approach. I really enjoy that the class gives you the freedom to design your own research while still providing enough guidance to make sure you’re on the right track. It also directly connects to my major and the kind of work I hope to do in the future, so everything feels relevant and meaningful.
Career goals
After college, I hope to pursue a career in international affairs, where I can combine my interest in global issues with the research and language skills I’m building now. I’m especially drawn to work that involves cross‑cultural communication, qualitative research, and understanding how different communities and countries interact.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is going out with friends to relax and have fun, then winding down afterward by coming back and watching a movie. It’s the perfect mix of being social and having a cozy, calm ending to the day.
