Chemistry major on the premed track. Very familiar with the UMD campus.
Hi! I’m Arianna. I am currently a sophomore at UMD and I am studying chemistry. In my free time I am a volunteer EMT and firefighter here in College Park. That being said, I try to involve myself as much as I can in the UMD community. I love this school and all it has to offer, and I would be so happy to share my insight on what it means to be a student in Maryland and overall. Feel free to ask any questions… and Go Terps!

Describe your college experience
I love the University of Maryland and it immediately became a home away from home for me. I met some of my closest friends from the very day I moved in, right on my dorm floor. That being said, making close friendships early on made the transition from high school to college life smooth and enjoyable.
Tip for future students
When you are in your dorm, leave the door open. It invites people in your hall to stop in and say hello. I also recommend spending free time in the dorm lounges because it is another great way to meet your new neighbors.
Favorite class
Organic chem 1. I loved the professor and TA who taught the course, and they made it fun and enjoyable.
Career goals
I hope to finish my chemistry degree in 3 years and then go to medical school after I graduate to become a doctor.
Ideal way to spend a free night

Favorite spot on campus
I particularly enjoy the McKeldin 4th floor reading room. It is one of the most picturesque and serene places on campus, and oftentimes me and my friends would go as a group to study together. I also love the Y, our biggest dining hall, because the food is great and my friends and I made it tradition to get dinners together there.
