Brendan | Junior @ BYU | Strategy Major | Go Cougs!

Hey! I'm Brendan, a junior at BYU's Marriott School of Business. I'm originally from Orange County, California, and just over a year ago I transferred to BYU with my best friend by my side. Best decision ever. Since then we've built an awesome network of friends, and I even met my wife here! When time allows, you can catch me at BYU football, basketball, and volleyball games cheering on the Cougars. I've also put together a pretty solid list of favorite pickleball courts, restaurants, and hiking spots around the area. There's honestly never a dull moment here. Got questions about BYU? Reach out! I'll answer whatever you're curious about and help you figure out how to make the most of your time here.

Describe your college experience

Transferring to BYU has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. I found my wife here and I love the school pride. The academics are extremely rewarding and the school always offers something to get involved with. My favorite are the sports games. I have grown up going to sports games, yet BYU games, especially football, is the most surreal experience.

Tip for future students

My biggest advice would be to make the most of opportunities and activities that come your way. This campus truly provides so many wonderful opportunities to make relationships, advance your career, and find yourself. It is insane how many clubs that there are that allow you to have new experiences.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been economics. I loved the way the professor made time for the students, despite him having such a big class. It was the most rewarded I have ever felt more my hard efforts and he did such an amazing job focusing on the needs of the students. He also never made the class fail to laugh.

Career goals

I hope to pursue a career in management consulting or corporate strategy. Right now, I am applying for internships that will land me either here in the Utah area or back home in Southern California.

Ideal way to spend a free night

The ideal way for me to spend a free night is going to a football or basketball game. After that, there are countless Mexican restaurants that I love to go to with my friends/wife in the area.

Favorite spot on campus

Although I spend the most time in the library, nothing beats LaVell Edwards Stadium. I love how open the students are to interacting with each other and it is where school spirit shines the most. While most arenas are loud yet mean, I love how this stadium brings the energy while remaining respectful. It is what bolsters my love for this university the most.
