Hello! I’m a 5th year at Northeastern that just finished up my undergraduate in Biochemistry with a Business Administration minor. I’ll be continuing at Northeastern for my MS in Pharmaceutical Engineering! I did 2 co-ops and was a part of the Northeastern Women’s Rowing team.

Describe your college experience

My admission to Northeastern was unique because I got recruited to the rowing team during COVID, so I never actually got to officially tour. Since I live not too far away from campus, I drove by to check it out. I loved how beautiful the campus was and already knew Boston was where I wanted to be for college so it sealed the deal for me! I lived on campus for 3 years, between dorms and leased properties the school has. The last 2 years I lived off campus. I took 2 co-ops, one at a startup and the other at a research lab. Both were incredible opportunities. I got a full time job offer from my second co-op but decided to pursue an MS instead of a PhD. Being on the rowing team gave me a unique experience because I had to be very mindful of my schedule. It also allowed me to make many friends!

Tip for future students

My biggest advice is that you shouldn’t be afraid to explore the clubs Northeastern has. There’s something for everyone! I wish I had made more time for at least 1 club because there are so many great ones. I also know people that have made their own clubs.

Favorite class

My favorite class would have to be Advanced Topics in Genome Editing with Dr Day. Importantly, we learned how to dissect a research paper to be able to read effectively. I have had to read some very challenging papers for co-op and for other classes, and having taken this class made it so much easier. The class was also on really interesting current research!

Career goals

I thought for a long time that I would end up in academic research. However, I know that job is not the most stable nor high paying, and so I’d like to work at a pharmaceutical company. I recently found that I have a passion for engineering as well, so I’d like to combine my experience in science with engineering and will be taking an MS in Pharmaceutical Engineering this Fall. I’m still exploring which specific roles I am interested in, but through networking I am getting a lot of different perspectives into my next steps.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My favorite thing to do on a free night is to try a new restaurant! Boston has so many great restaurants featuring many different cultural cuisines.
