Describe your college experience
My transition from highschool to college was not bad at all. I went to a very small, charter school, so the transition to a larger school was quite eye-opening, but nothing negative. I have been able to meet so many people! I sought help from others often. I made an effort to try new things and "get out there". I've learned many new things through trial and error or from advice from others. I had to adapt to new changes and form new habits and routines that best fit my college schedule.
Tip for future students
Transitioning to college and living on my own definitely was eye opening, and you will experience so many new things, but the most important thing I'd recommend is to not be shy and ask for help! A lot of people are going through the same thing as you, and there are so many resources available to you. By pushing myself to be more outgoing and friendly, I have opened doors to many friendships and oppurtunties! I chose to live off-campus my first year, which was great in some aspects, but you definitely do not experience such a "tight" community that many had in the freshman dorms (depending where you live). That being said, I made it an effort to go to on-campus events and meet new people in my apartment building, classes, events, and clubs.
Favorite class
I loved Introduction to Psychology (PSY2012), I found the course content very interesting and useful for everyday life. Intro To Latin American Studies (LAS2001) was also a very interesting and engaging class that I enjoyed.
Career goals
I hope to get admitted into dental school. After that, I'd like to open my own dental practice.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Depending on my mood, I either go the "chill" route, or the "adventurous" route. A chill night for me can look anything like a movie night in, baking in my apartment, arts and crafts, playing board games, or going for a dip in the hot tub with friends (or alone). An adventourous night out might look like trying out a new restaurant, going to a sporting event, exploring new shops in Gainesville, or going out with friends.
