Junior studying Economics sharing what Penn is actually like!
Hey! I’m currently a junior at UPenn and I love showing people what campus is really like beyond the brochures. I have a global background and took a gap year before coming to Penn, which really shaped how I approached college. I’m happy to walk you through everything, from classes to social life to career prep, and answer any questions honestly so you can get a real feel for Penn.

Describe your college experience
My college experience has felt both fast-paced and deeply formative. At first, adjusting to the academic expectations—especially after my gap year—was a bit overwhelming, but over time I’ve learned how to manage them and be more intentional with how I spend my time. I’ve also started to figure out what genuinely interests me, academically, socially, and outside of class. By sophomore year, I feel like I’ve really solidified my place and identity at Penn. There’s always something to do if I want it, which is a really reassuring feeling. Between my coursework and the things I’m building on my own, I’ve realized that I value work that feels meaningful and connected to the real world. All in all, college has pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t anticipate, especially in becoming more self-directed and my own person.
Tip for future students
Don't be afraid to be your own person and go against the grain. You're here for a reason, don't waste it being someone else or pursuing things you're not passionate about.
Favorite class
Negotiations: a class where I learned to think more strategically about everyday interactions, understand the incentives, trade-offs, and perspectives behind people’s decisions, and how to get to “yes.” So much of daily life involves communicating and negotiating with others, and learning a formal framework, along with the mental and emotional processes involved, made me a much more effective communicator.
Career goals
I plan on working in Private Wealth Management, which combines my love for connecting with people and economics/finance.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is getting together with friends, eating good food, and alternating between game nights, presentations nights about random topics, and deep conversations about things like free will.
