I am a sophomore at the University of Tennessee, and I am also a Knoxville native. I am very social, and I love to be active, hike, be with friends, go to sports events and concerts, local events, and overall just stay busy. I also enjoy helping people and am a huge advocate for the University of Tennessee, so I would love to show you around campus and tell you why I love the University and Knoxville.

Describe your college experience

My transition from high school to college went a lot smoother than I expected. This is partially due to being from Knoxville and being relatively comfortable with my surroundings, but it is mostly due to the efforts I made to expand my horizons, get involved, and meet new people. I learned a lot of time management skills, and how to manage freedom both academically and non-academically when coming to UTK as well. While college, especially freshman year, was a learning experience in multiple ways, I learned so much about myself and have had the best three semesters so far, learning, growing, preparing for the real world, and overall just having so much fun at a school that i know is a great fit for me.

Tip for future students

My top three tips for future students at the University of Tennessee, and just in general, are: 1. Make sure that you schedule your classes at times that you will attend. However, if the only option open is an 8am and you are not a morning person, you still need to attend class because skipping turns into a habit! 2. When you get to school, put yourself out there and get involved! Go to school-sponsored activities, clubs, sports games, RA-hosted functions, and more so that you can meet new friends and find your people. 3. Stay on top of your schoolwork at all times! Remember why you are in school - scholarship before social obligations!

Favorite class

My favorite class that I have taken at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville so far is Psychology 110. It was one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken, and even though it was only an elective class for me, I learned so much about human nature and why people do what they do. It also was a great introduction to group work, and allowed me to learn early on how to work with other students in a new collegiate environment.

Career goals

After college, I plan on finding a job in which I can use my Marketing degree to work in sales. I am not quite sure exactly what field I would like to go into with sales, but I am currently considering pharmaceutical sales. I would also like to use my time after college to explore and travel, and I hope I can find a job that also supports that passion and allows me time and funds to do so.

Ideal way to spend a free night

There are so many ways I enjoy spending my free nights while at school. One of my favorite ways is to get all my friends and get dressed up and take pictures, then go to dinner downtown on Market Square or Gay Street, then walk around and shop. I also enjoy checking out different events and concerts going on in Knoxville in my free time, at venues like Pilot Light and the Mill and Mine.
