Your local friendly pre-med tour guide and Oviedo expert!
Hi there! My name is Jane, I'm a freshman biomedical sciences (premed) student and an anthropology minor! I love a lot of the performing arts, medicine, and exploring fun places in cities! I also lived in Oviedo for 3 years, so I can tell you about the Knight experience, as well as what the city has to offer nearby!

Describe your college experience
I'm starting classes on campus in the fall so this isn't my forte quite yet, but a huge thing is the sudden amount of autonomy you get. Your advisors are absolutely there to help you when you need it, but communication with professors/advisors and things like registering for classes is something that you decide on yourself. Orientation is SUPER informative, don't worry, you aren't going to get kicked out of the nest and immediately be expected how to fly, but with independence also comes a lot more personal accountability, so be prepared for that!
Tip for future students
Dorms are small. I'm sorry to say this but unless you already live a very minimalist lifestyle, you aren't going to be able to bring everything with you </3. Definitely utilize the campus public transportation, it's there for you!! There's a lot of resources and ways to get involved on campus, so use them to best set yourself up for success and also to have fun during your time at UCF!!!
Favorite class
I haven't taken any classes yet, but I'm very excited for World Religions, as I love learning about other cultures and perspectives that are different from my own, and I believe the open mindedness that class teaches is something extremely beneficial to someone pursuing medicine :)
Career goals
My goal is to get accepted into medical school and eventually go into gynecology!
Ideal way to spend a free night
Oooh depends on how I'm feeling that day. If I have the energy, I'd love to go out and get dinner and/or dessert with friends, but if I'm a bit tired, cozying up in my room and drawing with a show playing in the background sounds like the dream!
