Your Go-To Guide for All Things Campus

Faith S
Faith SNew

Hey there! I’m Faith an undergraduate student here at Cornell in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. I still remember how overwhelming my first visit was, so I love helping others feel at home here. Whether you’re curious about classes, clubs, or the best coffee on campus, I’ve got you covered! My tours are all about real talk, good vibes, and showing you the spots that make this place special. When I’m not guiding or studying, you’ll probably find me working as a research assistant, exploring downtown Ithaca, singing in local groups, or trying new recipes. Can’t wait to meet you and show you around!

Describe your college experience

As my time as a student comes to a close, I can honestly say I’m grateful for what Cornell has given me. From International student-engaged learning experiences in Malaysia and Uruguay to a cappella concerts, to coffee dates with friends and campus concerts, I’ve made plenty of cherished memories. Nevertheless, I’ve had my ups and downs. It was hard for me to adjust to the pace of my courses and the cold upstate New York weather. The difficulties I face make me the perfect person to speak candidly about the campus resources, from health center services to student groups, and faculty support.

Tip for future students

Think about what you want out of college. Networking with peers and experts in various industries, gaining a deeper understanding of your subject of interest, having fun, traveling internationally, and participating in service are all things that can happen right here at Cornell University. It’s important to be intentional about how you want to spend your time here or at any other school. It’s okay to have different goals from the other students where you are. Just make sure to stay on top of your requirements and maintain a good balance!

Favorite class

"NTRES 4990: Conrell with Borneo." It doesn't exist anymore, but this was an engaged learning experience that traveled to Malaysia during winter break to interview people in Borneo. The insights my peers and I gained through field notes were very eye-opening. I really got into the project and learned a lot about research ethics. The students we collaborated with in Sarawak were very welcoming!

Career goals

I’m passionate about building partnerships between local communities and global institutions to promote equity and long-term development.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Cru, the student Christian Fellowship, usually has a fun little something going on, or I'll go with friends to get Taste of Thai, bubble tea, or Wings Over Ithaca.
