Describe your college experience

My time here at CU has been incredible and has allowed for me to greatly expand upon my professional and social skills. By getting further involved with my academic departments, I have had the wonderful experience of presenting my research at conferences, being able to travel abroad, and getting other students involved, particularly in the Spanish and Portuguese Department.

Tip for future students

My advice is to not be shy when asking questions! CU is the perfect place for those who are curious, and simply asking professors about their research and how I can get further involved has brought me a long way. By showing that you're interested in your coursework, you're allowing for so many more opportunities to come your way, so don't lose your passion and stay curious!

Favorite class

My favorite class has been PORT4150, a seminar focused on literature from the Portuguese-speaking world. I got to spend a semester studying one of my favorite writers, and I had the opportunity to present my final project at the Spanish and Portuguese Department's annual conference. This would give me the opportunity to study abroad, and I was able to further my research on him there. I also enjoyed it particularly because of the people in class; the smaller niche allowed us to fully connect and go in-depth about the topic at hand, with both undergraduate and graduate students' perspectives.

Career goals

I hope to pursue multiple masters' in both Hispanic Linguistics and Information Science, with plans to eventually pursue a PhD in Linguistics.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is to take a walk around Boulder's lovely parks and write on my laptop, whether it is nonfiction​/​academic writing or short stories and prose.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite place on campus is right outside McKenna Languages, near Varsity Lake. The calming atmosphere and scenic view from the benches always lifts my mood, especially during finals!
