UCLA Economics, Statistics & Data Science (Sophomore/Junior)
My name is Kareina, and I'm currently a sophomore at UCLA who's graduating next academic year. I'm pursuing a career in finance, and I'm involved in multiple organizations revolving around academics and social life. I've had a wonderful time at UCLA so far, and I'm super excited to show others around the campus I made so many great memories on! I'm actively involved in events and activities on campus and on the hill (the dorms), so I'll most likely be able to answer any questions you may have about student life and academic life at UCLA! I'm also able to provide very objective comments about certain aspects of the school.

Describe your college experience
I've had a very smooth transition into college despite being nervous prior to moving in. I've taken the initiative to meet many wonderful people around here, and they've all helped elevate my experience at UCLA. I love all the friends I've made, the classes I've taken, the food options I've explored, and so much more! However, there're always pros and cons to each school, so I'll be able to provide an objective judgement of certain facilities and aspects of the school as well.
Tip for future students
Make sure to talk to some people about their personal experiences at the school! Each person's experience varies, and how they feel about UCLA may rely on other factors such as their dorm, their major, etc. UCLA is a public school, so our class sizes are relatively large, and oftentimes, it can be really crowded everywhere. I do very much enjoy the bustling energy and the never-ending activities, but I just wish I'd known the number of lines and queues there are at this school.
Favorite class
EPSCI 15 Oceanography. Hands down the most interesting class I've ever taken. It's nowhere as boring as it sounds. I can go into so many more details about the class, but I'm so grateful that I was able to expand my knowledge about the ocean and marine life in a stress-free environment. The labs were hands-on and super intriguing, and the knowledge I obtained from this class doesn't feel useless at all. I learned so many fun ocean facts that I would never have learned anywhere else.
Career goals
I hope to pursue a career in corporate finance as a full time financial analyst.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Depending on my energy and mood, I'll either stay in the dorm and watch movies with my friends, play board/card games with them, or I'll enjoy a late-night drive around LA or a girl's night out. It never gets boring here.
