Describe your college experience

I attended high school in San Jose and enrolled at UCSB as a first-year student. I lived in the residence halls during my first year, which helped me adjust to college life, make friends, and become involved on campus. At the beginning of my second year, I moved into an off-campus apartment, so I can share firsthand insights about both dorm and apartment living. My experience at UCSB has been incredibly rewarding. I am an active member of several student clubs, where I have built a strong community and met amazing people. Academically, I am especially familiar with courses in the Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics and Applied Probability (PSTAT) departments. I have also navigated financial aid and scholarships and would be happy to share my personal experience finding and using these resources.

Tip for future students

If possible, I recommend living in a residence hall during your first year. Dorm life makes it easier to meet people, build friendships, and become part of the campus community. It is also convenient for getting to classes and participating in campus activities. For students seeking financial support, I recommend completing the FAFSA as early as possible and well before the applicable priority deadline, since deadlines can change each year. Applying early can help ensure that you are considered for all available financial aid opportunities.

Favorite class

My favorite classes have been in the Statistics and Applied Probability (PSTAT) department. The professors are highly knowledgeable, supportive, and willing to help students understand challenging material. These courses have strengthened my analytical knowledge and practical technical skills, which will be valuable in internships and throughout my future career.

Career goals

After college, I hope to pursue a career in consulting or data science. I am interested in applying the analytical and technical skills I have developed through Economics, Mathematics, and PSTAT courses to solve real-world problems and help organizations make data-informed decisions. I am excited to continue exploring both career paths through internships and professional experience.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night is spending time with friends, watching the sunset at the beach, and then heading to downtown Santa Barbara to enjoy a great meal together. On weekends, I also enjoy going for a morning hike and exploring the natural beauty around Santa Barbara.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite place on campus is definitely Campus Point. It is an amazing spot to watch the sunset, with beautiful ocean views and the surrounding cliffs creating a peaceful atmosphere. I enjoy going there to relax, spend time with friends, and appreciate the natural beauty that makes UCSB’s campus so special.
