Tufts student offering honest, helpful campus tours
Hi, I’m Abdi! I am a rising sophomore at Tufts University studying economics and finance, and I’m from the Boston area. I know how important it is to get a real feel for a school beyond the official website, so I’m happy to share my honest perspective on campus life, classes, student organizations, and what it’s like adjusting to college!

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been both challenging and exciting. When I started at Tufts, I had to adapt to a faster pace, greater independence, and a new academic setting. However, I’ve grown a lot from that experience. I’ve enjoyed meeting people from various backgrounds, getting involved on campus, and learning to balance classes, activities, and personal goals. So far, Tufts has encouraged me to be more confident, independent, and open to new opportunities.
Tip for future students
Don’t hesitate to ask questions and get involved early. Whether you’re talking to professors, joining clubs, meeting new people, or exploring new interests, college becomes easier when you take the initiative. Also, allow yourself time to adjust. Everyone is figuring things out, even if it doesn’t always seem that way.
Favorite class
One of my favorite classes has been Principles of Economics. It helped me understand how people, businesses, and markets make decisions. I enjoyed learning concepts that connect directly to the real world. This was especially interesting to me because I’m interested in finance and business.
Career goals
After college, I hope to work in finance, specifically in investment banking.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My perfect free night is about hanging out with friends, getting food, exploring Boston, or just unwinding after a busy week. I also love photography, so I enjoy wandering around and discovering interesting spots to take pictures.
