Hello! My name is Gianna Baccei, and I am originally from the Bay Area (Danville and San Mateo) and am soon to be a rising Junior this Fall at UCSB studying Psychology and Brain Sciences. I am an avid hiker who is preparing to do Half Dome in the near future, and I love to just be outside and hear the birds chirping. Additionally, I LOVE the beach, hence why I go to UCSB, and I can't wait to inspire countless future college students to become a Gaucho!

Describe your college experience

As an individual coming from a small town where everyone knows each other, college has been an amazing opportunity and has allowed me to meet countless people I would have never expected. Additionally, coming to college had a hard adjustment period where I had to drill down the timeline of a quarter of school. However, being with so many other students who also haven't perfected the quarter system, you create a community and work with your peers.

Tip for future students

If I could give any advice to a future student, I would say to make the most of your time and to try new things. Many may think that it's easy to be judged in college, but I've found it might actually be the opposite. There are so many different groups of people and plenty of spaces for others to identify with. Ultimately, my most important piece of advice would be to BE BRAVE and stand up for your new community.

Favorite class

My favorite class at UCSB has been Math 34 A-B with Professor Peter. Not only was this class easier than I expected, but the Professor actually wanted his students to thrive and get good grades in his class. Additionally, he was charismatic and had so much empathy for his students.

Career goals

After college, I hope to have been accepted into a nursing program and further my career in nursing. I aspire to become a CRNA and eventually help countless people in need.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night would likely be ordering a pizza and watching a movie with all 10 of my housemates. I also wouldn't mind if I had to go out as long as I am surrounded by all of my friends and we are having a good time.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus might be sitting by the campus lagoon, or I might even show the tour group my special secret spot in the music building, which is always in the shade, and you might even get to hear musical performances if you are lucky.
