Third-Year Econ Major from NYC Working in Finance; Transferred from UNC
Hey, I'm Arjun, a third-year from New York City studying Business Economics. I transferred to UChicago as a second-year from UNC Chapel Hill (and have loved every minute of my time here), so I've had a pretty unique time in college and can tell you exactly what stands out about UChicago versus other schools based on firsthand experience. I'm entering a career in investment banking, so I'm happy to discuss internship-hunting and breaking into the industry with any prospective Maroons who might be interested in finance. I'm also a huge ancient history nerd, Knicks fan, into Marvel and DC, and love men's fashion. I interned in Chicago last summer, so I can share a lot about things to do downtown as well -- if you like listening to anything from EDM to hyperpop to rap, I'm especially down to talk about the Chicago live music scene. Looking forward to showing you around!

Clubs, organizations & involvement
At my prior school, I was heavily involved in on-campus finance clubs and even founded a student organization aimed at increasing representation for disabled students in finance. Here at UChicago, I've gotten involved in recreational sports with my friends and look forward to joining organizations like the Boxing Club as well as some pre-professional RSOs in the fall.

Describe your college experience
As a transfer student, I had to acclimate to two different schools, two different times. I've witnessed the difference attending a school with top-tier resources and faculty has made in my academic, professional, and social lives. I love the intellectual "life of the mind" culture, the gorgeous campus, the city of Chicago. Despite coming in as a second-year, I've made lifelong friendships, secured internships in investment banking and private equity, and, despite transferring from a big state school known for its sports, had a blast -- don't fall for the "where fun goes to die" propaganda! I have a pretty unique perspective on UChicago as I know firsthand what sets it apart from other institutions, like the school where I spent my first year, and I definitely made the right choice coming here.
Tip for future students
Choose your classes carefully, and don't be a hero! College is already a difficult adjustment without adding a stressful courseload -- coming from someone who took 3 elective math classes his first term...
Favorite class
Business Ethics was an incredibly interesting (and very UChicago) class in which we read philosophers and economists the likes of Kant, Rawls, and Friedman, and applied their ethical frameworks to real-life business case studies in a class that often took on a debate format. Highly recommend!
Career goals
I came into college intending on breaking into high finance, and I've been fortunate enough to land competitive roles in private equity and investment banking. Happy to discuss the finance recruitment process further and how it differs between schools like UChicago and UNC Chapel Hill (my prior university).
Ideal way to spend a free night
If I'm not playing frisbee on the quad with my friends or reading about ancient civilizations like the Inca, I'm probably meeting new people at a function. UChicago has a great house party culture.

Favorite spot on campus
I love botany pond when the weather is warm; you're surrounded by ivy and, if you're lucky, you might get to meet our resident critters (ducks, turtles, and sometimes rabbits).
