The Ultimate UCSD Insider Knowledge Guide!

Hello! My name is Ximena and I am a current 2nd year in Eighth College at UCSD! I am a Political Science: International Relations Major with a minor in Law and Society, and I am most people's one-stop shop towards learning about the in's and out's of UCSD and the information no one seems to inform you about! :) I am involved in the Eighth College Student Council, MEChA, and am present in the conversations surrounding the student body and how UCSD can better serve you. Information is something I like to collect, and so whatever question you may have, I most likely have an answer for it! This tour is for you, so you are free to be as specific or as broad as you like. I am here to show you life on campus and the little slice of life that is being a student here at UCSD. Schedule that tour, and who knows? Maybe you'll be setting foot on your future home sooner than you think!

Describe your college experience

First-Gen college student who is exploring the route of higher education. UCSD for me has been an incredibly ambitious and fufilling journey for me, from learning and meeting new people, listening to Professors talk about topics they are passionate about, and being apart of a community of advocates and leaders.

Tip for future students

Never be afraid to step into a space you may not be familiar with: always do it scared, because you lose all the shots you don't take. Interact with your college representatives, and partake in clubs/orgs!

Favorite class

SOCI50: Introduction to Law and Society: Incredible professor who included multiple aspects regarding law and its role in defining societal law.

Career goals

Potentially go to law school and heading towards working in International Law and/or the UN!

Ideal way to spend a free night

Grab some boba/food at Price, and head down to the beach to enjoy some fresh air and have amazing late night talks. If it's a little too cold, I typically head down to the game room and do some kareoke with my friends until they close down the room!

High school or secondary school

El Modena High School

Favorite spot on campus

The coffee shops (MOM's and Art of Espresso): these places are like home to me. Not only do they make amazing drinks, their ambiance is incredible for whether you want to study in a cozy sofa tucked in the middle of Muir College (MOM's) or outside enjoying the beautiful weather with nature around you (Art of Espresso).
