Describe your college experience

Transitioning to college was both exciting and challenging. Moving to UCLA meant adapting to a fast-paced academic environment while balancing coursework, extracurricular activities, and part-time work. Over time, I developed strong time management and communication skills that have helped me succeed both inside and outside the classroom. My experience at UCLA has been incredibly rewarding. I've had the opportunity to volunteer in healthcare settings, work with children, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds. These experiences have strengthened my confidence, adaptability, and passion for helping others. College has taught me how to step outside my comfort zone, embrace new opportunities, and build meaningful relationships, all of which I bring into every interaction with others.

Tip for future students

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is to ask for help early and take advantage of the resources available on campus. Whether it's attending office hours, joining study groups, or getting involved in clubs and organizations, these opportunities can make a huge difference both academically and personally. I also wish I'd known that it's okay not to have everything figured out right away. College is a time to explore your interests, meet new people, and grow. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone—you'll learn just as much from your experiences outside the classroom as you will inside it.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been Cellular Biology because it gave me a deeper understanding of how cells function and how those processes are connected to human health and disease. I enjoyed learning about topics like cell signaling, gene expression, and cellular organization, and I appreciated how the class combined fundamental biological concepts with real-world applications. It strengthened my interest in microbiology and biomedical research and confirmed that I'm pursuing the right field.

Career goals

After graduating from UCLA, I hope to pursue a Ph.D. in the biological sciences and build a career in biotechnology. I'm passionate about research and hope to contribute to the development of new treatments and technologies that improve human health. Along the way, I also want to continue mentoring and educating others, sharing my passion for science and helping students feel more confident in pursuing their own goals.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night depends on my mood. Sometimes I love relaxing with a good movie or spending quality time with friends, whether we're trying a new restaurant or just hanging out. Other times, I enjoy having a quiet reset night—doing my skincare routine, reorganizing my room, and getting everything ready for the week ahead. It's a great way for me to recharge and feel refreshed.
