Sports Administration Student Ready to Show You the Real UM Experience

Hi! I'm Athziri, a Sports Administration student at the University of Miami with minors in Marketing and Business Law. I'm involved on campus through student employment, clubs, and athletics-related organizations. As a first-generation college student who moved from Colorado to Miami, I know how overwhelming choosing a college can be, and I'd love to give you an honest look at what life at UM is really like—from academics and housing to campus life and hidden gems.

Describe your college experience

Moving from Colorado to Miami was a huge change, but it's been an incredible experience. I've met people from all over the world, gotten involved through clubs and work on campus, and found opportunities that align with my career goals in sports. College definitely takes balance and time management, but UM has given me a supportive community and experiences that have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Tip for future students

Get involved early—even if it's outside your comfort zone. Attend club fairs, talk to professors during office hours, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Building relationships and getting involved on campus makes a huge difference in your college experience.

Favorite class

Sports Administration. I enjoy learning about the business side of athletics, including marketing, leadership, and how sports organizations operate. It's confirmed that this is the career field I want to pursue.

Career goals

I hope to work in sports law and athlete representation, helping athletes navigate contracts, branding, and their professional careers. I'm especially interested in working in professional sports.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Grabbing dinner with friends and going out, working out, going to a sporting event, or relaxing by watching a movie after finishing homework.
