Hi there, my name is Max and I'm a sophomore studying Accounting and Marketing at Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. I'm from Bethesda, MD and grew up right outside the Washington DC area. I grew up playing sports predominantly lacrosse and swimming at my high school. I'm now getting more involved with Greek life as I'm the philanthropy chair of Delta Tau Delta as volunteer work and fundraising has been a passion of mine throughout my life. I love it here at Syracuse and am excited to share what I love about it and what you may also love about it.

Describe your college experience

My freshman year was challenging at first, but I figured things out along the way. I’ve built a large group of friends, connected across several different social circles, and put myself in a position where I’m constantly meeting new people.

Tip for future students

Be prepared for the cold, make friends in your dorm, and don’t be afraid to push yourself outside your comfort zone. While academics are a major part of college, it’s just as much about developing social skills, learning to network, and finding the balance between your coursework and meeting new people. College is a unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships and grow in every aspect of your life.

Favorite class

Max 132 (globalization) This class is outside of my business curriculum, but I took it because it seemed interesting—and it definitely was. I learned about globalization, what it truly means, and how it shapes countries around the world. Exploring the challenges faced by developing nations, why these issues occur, how they can be addressed, and the factors that contribute to them was especially engaging.

Career goals

My career goal is to be successful in business, even if I’m still figuring out exactly what that looks like. I chose accounting because it’s the language of business and gives me a strong, stable foundation to build on. I’m drawn to all aspects of the business world—whether it’s launching entrepreneurial ventures, analyzing a company’s financial health, or tracking major events like IPOs. Ultimately, I aspire to own my own business one day. That curiosity and ambition drive me, and I’m excited to keep learning and finding my path as I go.
