Describe your college experience
My college experience has definitely evolved over time. My first year, I lived in Azalea, which is one of the newer dorms, and that was a great way to meet a lot of different people from all kinds of majors. It really helped me build a social circle early on and get comfortable on campus. After that, I moved into an apartment with other mechanical engineering majors, and that was a different experience, more focused and academic. We’d study together, work on projects, and kind of go through the challenges of the major together. So I’ve been able to experience both sides of college, the social side early on and then a more focused, career-driven environment, and I think that balance has been really valuable
Tip for future students
My biggest advice would be to get involved early, whether that’s clubs, projects, or even just talking to your professors. A lot of opportunities here don’t just come to you, you have to go out and find them. Also I’d say don’t just focus on your classes try to get hands-on experience early, like projects, clubs, or internships. That’s really what helps set you apart when it comes to job opportunities.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has probably been my Mechanical Engineering Tools class, that’s where I first learned the fundamentals like CAD, basic coding, and how engineers actually approach solving problems.
Career goals
I will be relocating to San Francisco this May to pursue AI Data Center Design with Vantage Data Centers.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I like to go out with friends, whether that’s grabbing drinks or just being around campus, it’s a good way to unwind after a busy week.
