Describe your college experience

I came from a large high school so my transition to college was easy. I also live 25 minutes away so I would go home often to see my family during my freshman year. So far, I have made a lot of friends through college. I have become closer with high school friends as well as made new friends, many from out of state.

Tip for future students

Some tips for future students would be to explore all different areas of education and career. It gets easy to pigeonhole yourself when you see other students. Taking your time in the beginning to explore what you like and enjoy will go a long way in choosing your career. Also, learn to take a step back from school and do the small things you enjoy and that help keep you sane.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been Intro to Zen Buddhism because I was able to learn about a religion that was very similar to my own, Hinduism. Seeing the parallels and shared values helped me to realize that all religions share the same core values. Also, my professor used to be a monk and had travelled the world. It was amazing to hear his stories and various experiences.

Career goals

After college, I hope to work in software engineering. I love the problem solving aspect of software engineering as well as the many applications that come with it. I ultimately want to work in the healthcare industry. I want to make the jobs of doctors easier and I believe creating softwares and technology for them is the most beneficial.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night would be to read a book. I have always enjoyed reading books because it helps me unwind and destress. I enjoy reading fiction books. My favorite books have been the Percy Jackson series.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite place on campus is the Nichols Arboretum. I lived at Oxford my freshman year and there was an entrance to the arb next to our dorm. My roommates and I would enjoy walking through the arb when the weather was good. We also would play football with other friends in the large, open fields.
