My name is Arjun Shah, and I am a second year student at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. I am part of the ISyE program, pursing a Industrial Engineering Bachelors degree. I live in Midtown Atlanta but have classes all around campus, allowing me to become one with the campus here! I transferred from University of Georgia, so I am very knowledgeable on the transfer student life.

Describe your college experience

I was scared at first leaving my family, people who I have been with my whole life. However, I knew that the next part of my journey would be great, and I can vouch for that so far. Balancing school and a social life to this degree to this degree was a little rough at first, but it became wonderful after a little bit of adjusting!

Tip for future students

Any tips I would give to future students is to not lose focus on your main goal. Get involved in a lot of clubs and extracurriculars so you can see what to tend to levitate towards. This will help you find your passion and a group that is like-minded.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been ISyE 2027. This class is located in the ISyE building in west campus, and the staff here is always phenomenal. My professor, Dr. Williams, is someone who teaches with passion and I looked forward to learning about the next big topic.

Career goals

After college, I hope to have a steady internship that can lead into a full-time job or help gain more experience for a similar position. This will let me put my degree to use in the Industrial Engineering side and hopefully be in touch with a bunch of companies for optimization and operational projects.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night in Atlanta is to gather a bunch of friends and head down to Campus Recreation Center(CRC), where we play our beloved sport of basketball! After a fun few hours of hooping, we would head to Taco Bell in mid town and get a nice Combo box meal with a Baja Blast!

Previous college

I loved my freshman year at University of Georgia, meeting many new people in my dorm, classes, and all around campus! The life at UGA was very different and transferring to GT was a bit of a struggle at first, especially with time management. However, small issues like will arise anywhere and it helps with personal character development in the long run.
