Quirky Public Health Pre-Med who Dances

Hello! This is a smoothie. (Love island joke) My name is Jenisha, a Public Health Pre-Med, who Goes where the wind and my friends take me. I am a San Diego resident who has been on UCSD campus a multitude of times since freshman year highschool. On campus I heavily visits RIMAC, Price Center, the trolley, my friend’s dorms across campus, and 6th market. Every nook and cranny of this campus is a study spot or just hang out spot. My favorite thing is sneaking into other dorms to study to get a change of scenery. I would be happy to show you around campus and show all the nooks and cranny’s from giesel to the parking lots 😂 There is so much to UCSD beyond what’s on the surface and I can show you that🎉

Describe your college experience

I think the transition to college was relatively easy. I joined a dance club and that made me have a group of people and friends that were all first years who similar to me just got here and were just trying to find there way. Transitioning from highschool to college was a bit of a struggle because in highschool I didn’t put that much effort and I was a top student, but in college you need to know how to manage your school life and social life, and fine time in your schedule to study. I never studied before coming to college so adjusting to studying was difficult but it taught me a lot about myself and the way I learn.

Tip for future students

Please figure out how you study best for each subject. Not every method works for each subject. That will dictate how you split your time for extracurricular and just help you with all your classes and grades.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been introduction to hip hop dance. I like that the course focuses on fundamental dance moves but also focuses on the history of the dance moves. Additionally the professor has a passion for dance that is clearly demonstrated every day of class. I looked forward to coming to this class every time.

Career goals

After college I plan to either do something with get a masters in public health, and then go to med school.

Ideal way to spend a free night

A great way to spend a free night is to go out with friends. It’s very different going out with friends during the school day compared to at night out of your time. Those are the times you get closer and I feel like it’s so much of an adventure. Even if it’s for 30 minutes and then we come back to just hang out at home just being around people is rejuvenating.

Favorite spot on campus

Marshall college is my favorite spot because it is my dorm. I love Marshall because it is home, but also it’s my favorite place to study. There are study rooms and each floor, lounge areas on each floor, and even a mini classroom at the bottom of the dorm. Additionally our market goodies is nearby so it’s always quick and accessible to get snacks.
