Public Policy major with a knack for finding the best study spots

Hi there! I'm Elle, a Public Policy major with a concentration in International Security. I'm also an International Studies scholar and a Global Fellow, so I love reading about anything related to international relations. I've spent most of my time in Baltimore, but I've also lived in Michigan, Minnesota, and Virginia! On campus, I'm a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, an avid competitor on the UMD Model United Nations Team, and a representative on the UMD Scholars Advisory Board. I'm also one of those people with a color-coordinated Google Calendar and a thousand different spreadsheets to organize everything, so you'll usually find me planning my week at one of the tables in Thurgood Marshall Hall (or by the Maryland Dairy if I'm having a hankering for strawberry ice cream). Whether it's tips on how to make new friends or finding the best places to socialize, or hints about secret study spots and quiet corners of UMD's libraries, I'm here to answer all of your questions!

Describe your college experience

I've found a great group of friends that I regularly have movie nights with, I've made great relationships with a couple of my professors in the policy school, and during my freshman year I lived right next to the gym and the best dining hall.

Tip for future students

Everyone else is trying to make friends too, so don't let nervous habits get in the way of making connections with the people around you.

Favorite class

Arabic 101, my professor was extremely friendly and outgoing, the class size was small, and I felt like I learned a lot very quickly

Career goals

I hope to work in policymaking.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night involves having friends over to watch Bridgerton or The Summer I Turned Pretty, chatting, walking over to play pool at TerpZone, and then ending the night at the local Taco Bell.

High school or secondary school

Towson High School

Favorite spot on campus

TerpZone by far, I've spent a lot of weekends learning to play pool with my friends.
