Describe your college experience

While I pivoted my commitment to UCLA last-minute, I am extremely happy with my decision to be a Bruin. The first year of college is definitely tough, being away from home, meeting tons of people, and re-learning how to be a student. However, UCLA has incredible resources that set students up for success. I have had nothing but positive experiences with my professors and in my major, and there are ample opportunities for students to become involved. I have found community through my volunteer positions, Greek life, and cultural groups, but with that said, the students at UCLA are extremely friendly and collaborative. I personally enjoy the quarter system as I get to take more courses, and it pushes classes to focus on the important concepts. As a student, I love living in Los Angeles as there is always something to do and consistently warm weather. The balance between academics and social involvement is rewarding, and as Bruins, we work hard and play hard!

Tip for future students

Academically, my best tip for future students is to attend office hours. As a freshman, office hours were an integral part of my success, as I received advanced help with course topics, built relationships with my professors, and collaborated with my peers. On a personal level, I'd advise incoming students to give themselves a bit of grace. College is a big adjustment and definitely involves a learning curve, so don't be too hard on yourselves in the first year.

Favorite class

My favorite class I have taken at UCLA was Epidemiology 160 on Infectious Disease Prevention and Control because this class bridged the gap between science and the news, explaining the exact mechanics of how pandemics and diseases spread and how global health policies actually save lives in real time.

Career goals

After college, I plan on taking a gap year and then applying to PA schools!

Ideal way to spend a free night

I enjoy spending my free nights baking or watching movies with my friends, going to concerts, or trying new sweet treats around LA.
