Hello! My name is Wyatt and I am a freshman at MSU majoring in physics and math and minoring in CMSE and german. I love playing tennis and eating food, so I am always down for playing tennis then grabbing some good food after. Although I am in into heavy STEM fields, I love learning, so whatever your major or interestes are I love to get to know you and help you on your path. Although, if you are a physics major I will secretly like you more and make a point so you don't get left behind on tour. If we loose an engineering major on tour that is fine. Come to tours ready with tons of questions. I completely understand what is like to leave for college, especially far away from parents and family. Whether I only see you on tour, or communicate frequently throughout your journey, I understand we all come from different backgrounds and struggles, so please bring up anything and everything I will do my best to help.

I have already been involved in Physicists Inspiring the Next Generation, or PING, first-year seminar abroad, and am in the honors college. I plan on joing club tennis, the Society of Physics Students, the MSU-Q initiative, Helping Hands, and I will be starting my Professorial Assistantship next week. I also hope to get an additional job in the area over breaks, or volunteer completely outside of MSU but still in the East lansing community or neighboring communities.

Describe your college experience

My college experience has been exceptional so far. I was able to participate in the first-year seminar abroad to meet fellow MSU freshman even before move-in day, and after moving in I got an amazing feel for the campus and it's people. How excited everyone is to be here, start college at MSU, and make lifelong memories together.

Tip for future students

So many college students will say this, but even if it was the only peice of advice any student gave it still wouldn't be said enough. Enjoy it. Don't think this will last forever, even as a freshman I can tell this is going to be a fast four years. Don't wait to meet people and join clubs. Work hard so the time you have with people can be spent fully. And take breaks to enjoy your time here and not just work. You came here to learn, but you chose MSU to become a better and more complete person. That doesn't happen in lecture halls.

Favorite class

I took a class called the History and Psychology of the Holocaust where we discussed not only the facts and events of the Holocaust but the factors of human behavior which made such a horrid event possible. It stuck with me as I never thought I would enjoy a class outside of math and science as much as I did. Let alone more than math and science. The teacher was clearly educated and deeply passionate about the subject, and some of the facts and lectures he gave formed into the most fascinating knowledge I have to this day.

Career goals

I want to go to grad school and get my Masters and PhD in physics and then become a professor or researcher of physics. My dream would be to do research associated with CERN and the ATLAS experiment.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night would be hanging on campus studying or working on research. As much as I love socializing and hanging with friends on campus. A free night to study, research, and then calling family, friends, and my girlfriend all back in Buffalo would be an amazing return to how my life was before MSU. Something I am glad I moved on from, but still miss.

Favorite spot on campus

Althought I haven't started classes yet, from my time participating and PING and having visited campus numerous times before, FRIB is my favorite spot on campus. The best nuclear physics lab in the nation is a predictable answer for a physics major, but the scale and impact of this lab is so monumental and exciting to be a part of that it has to be my favorite spot. The brilliant minds, passionate professors, inspired students, beyond impressive engineering, and proximity to the dairy store, all makes FRIB such a special place, and my favorite spot to stop by on campus.
