Passionate journalism and political science major that loves Washington DC
Hi! I'm Zach. I’m a rising sophomore at the George Washington University studying journalism and political science, and I’ve come from California to study in the nation's capital. I've fallen in love with GW because of the overwhelming opportunities I've gotten here in DC, the city feel that isn't overwhelming, and the campus culture. I usually spend my time in the Thurston penthouse or study rooms; the best place to make friends Freshman year, at Zingers, the best dining option on campus or playing soccer on the national mall I'm excited to show you the campus I fell in love with and give you an honest review — the good the bad and the ugly.

Describe your college experience
I have loved my experience at GW so far. I was personally worried to go across the country, but the campus instantly became home for me. The food/dorm situation is pretty good, and more importantly I felt like I was surrounded by likeminded students and there is so much opportunity around me
Tip for future students
Leave the door to your dorm room open, go to all the welcome week events and spend as much time as possible outside or in the common rooms. It will pay dividends
Favorite class
Introduction to Sportswriting and Reporting which was taught by award-winning journalist and professor Kelsey Nicole Nelson. I loved the class because I got real world journalism experience, interacted with GW athletics communication staff, covered and photographed games and learned a different side of journalism to my typically politically focused classes (that I do still love).
Career goals
I want to either became a political journalist or a politician serving my community to make the world a better place
Ideal way to spend a free night
Play soccer with my friends or cook dinner with friends.
High school or secondary school
Palo Alto High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot at GW is in the Hillel rooftop. It's a great, quiet spot that is usually empty and welcome for all GW students. it has a nice view of other parts of campus.
