Outgoing sophomore Interior Design major who has deeply explored campus.
Hi! I'm Nick, a second year (but first program year) insomniac Interior Design student who bleeds green and white. You'll never see me in the same spot studying twice. I am constantly finding new areas, places, and secret gems across campus. If I'm not studying, I will be going wherever the wind takes me. The nice thing about MSU is the sheer size of campus- which inherently means the sheer amount of things to do or go. Whether I am getting a Venti drink at either Starbuck's on campus, feeding the squirrels on the Red Cedar River, filming a podcast with my best friend (yes, MSU has a podcast studio!), or eating at one of the 9 dining halls on campus; I am always out of my dorm. Don't get me wrong, my dorm is stunning and I love spending time there, but that is not what college is about. I come from a long line of UMich supporters and alumni, so I have to show them all what it looks like to be a Spartan (which is infinitely better than a Wolverine btw). I am be more than happy to show you what your life will look like as a Spartan by showing you those secret gems, the best scenery, the best food, and best day-to-day information. I'm excited to meet you and show you everything I know!

Describe your college experience
Michigan State University offers a little big of everything, leading to a perfect college experience. In my first year there, I met some of my best friends, made some of my best memories, and put myself on the best path. MSU is unique in the way that it mixes athletics with academics. We have a very strong sense of pride across campus. I was terrified to start at Michigan State because of how large it truly was. Along with the fact that all my close friends from high school did not attend MSU. I thought I was used to it because I attended a giant High School with 7000 students, but I was so wrong. But being wrong, gave me the confidence to just go met people, attend random events, but conquer all of my classes. I started my freshman year as an Elementary Education major, but switched that to Interior Design in November. By the time it was time to leave my spring semester, I did not want to leave. I spent every second soaking up the meal plan, my beautiful dorm room, and all my new best friends. Every single person comes into State with a different set of experiences and something that makes them unique, and that for me is being gay. But in end, we are all Spartans and want nothing but the best.
Tip for future students
Talk to every single soul you can. Talking to random people is not only great for networking, but also that one person could become your best friend. I met my best friend by falling onto her on the bus on the way to freshman orientation. I don't know where I would be today if I did not randomly talk to everyone. But also, more than anything, stay on top of your school work. The second you push of doing an assignment, your whole motive of school switches and you slip into a very step decline of bad academic habits.
Favorite class
My favorite class I have taken at MSU was Writing 101. I loved this class because I was able to showcase my writing abilities, peer review papers, and explore different types of media.
Career goals
I hope to accomplish 2 things. 1: Either work for a very successful Interior Design firm or create my own. 2: Create a large social media brand and image for myself. Ideally, I can do both simultaneously.
Ideal way to spend a free night
With my friends. There is not a single night that you are not studying that you would rather be alone than with your friends. Your best friends and close communities are the backbone of a good college experience. Whether that being a good movie night, a long walk around campus, or going out and seeing night life. All of those moments are going to be the ones you wish you had more of.

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite place to wind down on campus is the Clarence E. Lewis Landscape Arboretum. It has beautiful landscapes, benches, trails, and every spot in it is different. But my favorite place to study is the the library. Basic answer, but more specifically, the third floor facing south, there are a ton of desks that over look the Red Cedar River and Spartan Stadium.
