Outgoing Psychology major who loves the beautiful campus

Hello! I’m Shawnae! I am currently a sophomore at Hofstra University on the Pre-med track, previously a biology major but recently switched to psychology. I am from New York and I dorm on Campus. Aside from the amazing academics, what ultimately led me to choose this campus was the beautiful scenery. Watching all of the trees and flowers change through the season is so refreshing. I’d love to be your tour guide and show you all of the amazing places on campus, from the best places to get breakfast and coffee, best floors on the library to study, to the shortcuts that can get you to your classes quicker. I usually spend my days going to class and studying, but on the days that I am free, my friends and I usually go out to places in the area that I can also tell you about! I really love this campus and I would love to show you around and to answer any questions that you may have!

Describe your college experience

My transition to college started off rocky but I slowly got the hang of it. It has been an amazing experience thus far and I’ve learned so much and gained so many new life long relationships.

Tip for future students

My best advice would be to get involved and make connections, priorotize your wellbeing but also try your hardest to stay on top of your schoolwork. And this last one may sound silly, but to open your blinds. If you feel like not going to class today, opening your blinds and getting a little bit of sunlight may help change your mind and also lighten your mood.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been my religion class that I took during my spring semester of my freshman year. It has been my favorite class because it led me to form new philosophies and learn about different religions and the history of religions.

Career goals

After college, I plan to enroll in medical school to eventually match into Ob/Gyn to then eventually becoming an Infertility doctor.

Ideal way to spend a free night

An ideal way to spend a free night where I don’t have to study or do any homework would probably be to hang out with my friends in my dorm or at a lounge nearby.

High school or secondary school

St.Francis Preparatory

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite place on campus is the field adjacent to the baseball field on the north side of campus. My friends and I usually go to that field on a nice day to lay on the grass and enjoy the sun. There’s also a couple of benches on the field as well.
