Outgoing Marketing/International Business Major with honest insights & fun tips

Hi, I’m Maria! I’m a freshman at Hofstra and a dual major in Marketing and International Business at the Zarb School of Business. I live in a small beach town about 25 minutes away, so I commute to campus and in my opinion, it’s totally worth it! I can honestly say that Hofstra has already become my home away from home. You can usually find me around the Student Center or grabbing food somewhere on campus. I love meeting new people, sitting down with friends to relax or get some work done, and exploring campus to see what’s new. There’s always something to do, someone to meet, and something new to discover! I’m super excited to meet you and show you everything Hofstra has to offer, as well as what day-to-day life is really like as a student. I’m also more than happy to answer any questions you have along the way. I can’t wait to meet you and show you around!

Describe your college experience

Honestly, it has been an awkward transition because I went from having 4 assignments a week to 3 assignments for a whole semester. obviously, it depends on your major but for me it's been like that. but besides that, it's been good. It's taking me awhile to find my group of people and I'm getting there slowly but surely. Everyone is very kind and friendly, it's hard to find people that are closed off.

Tip for future students

- Be ok with being yourself - Learn to not procrastinate - There is always something to do - Ask all the questions you have. - If your curios if the school offers something you want to look in to, ask about it

Favorite class

I love my entrepreneurship class because of all the hands-on experience we are getting as well as first-hand experience in the world as an entrepreneur. I also love my intro to legal studies class because it is so interesting to learn all the reasons why, how and when the law comes into play.

Career goals

I see myself in a big company doing what I love everyday pushing my way to the top, getting married with kids, and traveling the world.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I am very open to-do anything. I can stay home and have a movie-night with my family. But I also love a night out with my friends or even a calm hangout with friends.

Favorite spot on campus

This is tricky, I find myself finding new spots every day. One place you can always find me is in the student center on the main floor.
