Outgoing exploratory major who loves the MSU campus
Hi!!! Im Alice, Im a sophmore exploratory major, Im currently in the process of applying to the business college. I'm from Michigan born and raised, and this campus has so much to offer for people with all different kinds of interests. I had a wonderful experience my freshman year, my roomate I met for the first time in person on move in day and we are best friends and roomates again this year! She is from New York, and it gave me a whole different perspective of Michigan and the campus in general. I am very passionate about making sure every incoming student feels just as at home as I did! Go Green!!!!!!!!!!

Describe your college experience
Transitioning to college was very exciting and fun for me the first semester of my freshman year, however as winter time approached I fell into a rut and ended my second semester with very poor academic results. As a high achiever student it felt life ending at the time, however I think that experience has only made me more resilient and I learned a lot about myself and what I need to do to make sure I am taking care of my mental health as well as succeeding academically. One thing I want to highlight is the amazing friendships I have made her, in specific my roomate my freshman year, we met on instagram and she came from New York to Michigan State. We instantly clicked and now she is one of my best friends and shes taught me so much about myself and also about her struggles moving out of state and being so far away from home.
Tip for future students
A big tip I have for future students is to go to class, talk to new people, and give yourself grace. I think skipping class is a slippery slope and its harder to catch up on work and can become very overwhelming if you do. I would suggest talking to new people and putting yourself out there because everyone is looking to make friends and the campus is so big it can start to feel lonely if you isolate yourself. Joing clubs and getting involved is a great way to meet people. Lastly give yourself grace, transitioning to college is very overwhelming sometimes, it can feel lonely, hard, and its easy to fall into funks if you arent kind to yourself and if you dont have a good support system. I would say never be afraid to ask for help, campus has so many free resources and people you can talk to that realy do care and want to help you. Also- the hard times make the fun times even better, there needs to be a good balance.
Favorite class
Biology Cells and Molecules Lab has been my favorite class because we got to investigate real world issues focusing on antibiotic resistant bacterial pollution in the Red Cedar river which is the famed river that runs through Michigan States campus. During the lab I learned a lot about bacterial pollution and DNA concepts I was learning about in my lecture classes, but in a more hands on setting.
Career goals
After college I really hope to focus on my career and make good investments for my future, I would love to have my own accounting firm one day and I am excited for what the future has in store for me.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I would love to spend a free first by visiting the new gym on Michigan States campus, it has so many activities and me and my friends love going there and just exploring all it has to offer. Then I would like to come back to my apartment and order a pizza and hangout with all my roomates playing board games and talking.

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is the Botanical Gardens, I find them very relaxing and peaceful, and I love to see all the flowers in bloom.
