Outgoing Construction Management Major who loves to chat

Hi! I'm Brenden, a Sophomore in MSU's Construction Management department. I absolutely love sports and could talk for hours about our teams and which venues are the most enjoyable to attend. This is my second year at Michigan State, but this place feels like my home, I can give great tips on where to eat, where to study, and where to take classes/live. I feel like I have understood our campus very well and I think I know what each neighborhood offers. I love to talk to people and I feel like I can describe things very well. Also I feel like I am very honest about basically everything, so I can give tips that you wouldn't necessarily expect. I love to meet new people, and I would be so excited to bring people around campus and give them my perspective on certain things at MSU.

Describe your college experience

I have loved MSU so far, I feel so at home and I am so happy to me around so many like minded individuals. I feel like the friends that I made are so important because I will have a group of people with me for my whole tenure here. I think the campus is so beautiful and relaxing as well.

Tip for future students

If I had any tips for incoming students I would tell them to have a calendar and try their hardest to actually focus on spending their time efficiently. I found myself wasting too much time last year and that is one thing I want to work on in the future. Also I would urge people to focus on their health more than they think, with no parents around there is no one to help you get your daily nutrition in and stay healthy. Try and make friends where you can go to the gym together and stay on top of your health.

Favorite class

CMP 124, I really enjoyed learning the formwork around my industry. My professor was an architect for 30+ years and I felt that I was able to understand his way of teaching very well.

Career goals

I am studying construction management and I want to be a project manager one day. I interned with a general contracting company this summer and I found it extremely helpful to carry on with my career path. I think ideally I will start out as a project engineer and climb my way up the ladder in commercial construction.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I would say that an Ideal way for me to spend a night is to play card games with friends, and watch the sunset. I love nature and going on hikes but I don't hike very often at school. Spending time with friends is one of my favorite things just because it is so relaxing.

Favorite spot on campus

I would say that my favorite spot on campus is the hammock station near the river on Bogue ST. I love to read and posting up with a hammock on the river is unbeatable.
