Outgoing business major who knows campus like the back of her hand
Hi! I’m Ece, a junior studying Hospitality Business and an out-of-state student from Massachusetts. I came to MSU knowing absolutely no one, and it quickly became my home away from home. You’ll usually find me going out with friends, grabbing Starbucks before heading to the library, or taking walks around our beautiful campus. I’d love to show you MSU’s hidden gems, my favorite study spots, the best dining halls, and give you an honest look at what student life is really like day to day. The more questions you bring, the better. I’m an open book!

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been a very positive experience. I love being at MSU and have really enjoyed getting involved on campus, meeting so many amazing people, and creating new friendships. I also enjoy learning and being challenged through my classes, especially as I continue to learn more about hospitality and my future career. Overall, college has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’m excited to continue making the most of my time at MSU.
Tip for future students
Mastering your time and building a support network early are the keys to thriving in college. Treat your schoolwork like a nine-to-five job by studying between classes to keep your evenings free and prevent stressful all nighters. Write every deadline in a planner immediately, and visit your professors during office hours before coursework gets difficult. Balancing your social life through student clubs while utilizing free campus resources like tutoring centers will keep you healthy, focused, and successful.
Favorite class
My favorite class at MSU has been Event Management because I enjoyed getting hands-on experience planning and organizing an event from start to finish. It taught me how to work with a team, manage multiple responsibilities, and think creatively while solving problems, which are skills I know I’ll use throughout my career in hospitality
Career goals
I hope to build my career in the hospitality industry and end off as being a general manager for a high end or well know hotel brand.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night I would spend with my friends going to get ice cream at the MSU dairy store. Or go on grand river and sit down and eat at one of our many restaurants while watching a sports game. Maybe a campus walk while listening to music.

Favorite spot on campus
Beaumont Tower is my favorite on campus because it blends inspiring history with a relaxing outdoor study environment. Tucked away under a the trees, lawns surrounding the 104-foot Gothic structure provide an idyllic, shaded retreat to spread out a blanket, open a laptop, and do homework. The natural white noise that drowns out stressful campus distractions. Because it sits centrally between major academic halls, it serves as a highly convenient, peaceful spot where students can reset, enjoy a campus view, and absorb a bit of MSU tradition between classes.
