Outgoing business major who has the best restaurant recommendations
Hi! I’m Divya, a senior studying Business Economics with an Accounting minor, and after four years at UCSD, I’ve accumulated a concerning amount of opinions about this campus. I’ve spent my time here teaching accounting at Rady, working at The Basement, pretending I understand what’s happening in Geisel, and finding increasingly creative excuses to end up at the beach between classes. Outside of school, I’m a huge hockey fan, love trying new restaurants and coffee shops around San Diego, and will happily give you an unnecessarily detailed ranking of my favorite spots in La Jolla. I’d love to show you the UCSD I’ve gotten to know over the past four years - including the things you definitely won’t find on the admissions website.

Describe your college experience
I’ve loved UC San Diego. I’ve made some of my best friends here, and people are so outgoing and open. Being by the beach and getting to spend time there has made the experience truly unique.
Tip for future students
UC San Diego is really what you make of it. I didn’t focus on meeting the right people initially, and once I realized that I had to make more of a conscious effort to do so, my experience improved significantly. Also, definitely recommend getting general education requirements done early on.
Favorite class
I loved Business of Healthcare and Life Sciences. San Diego is a large biotechnology hub, and the focus on the business aspect of that was fascinating to me. I hope to work in healthcare finance one day, so earning about the different parts of the industry and how it operates was pivotal to my success in internships. I went on to TA for the class as well.
Career goals
I hope to work in commercial banking.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I love to have a few friends over to watch some movies or just chat.

Favorite spot on campus
The top floor of the Rady School of Management. As a business major, I spend a lot of time at Rady. The top floor has a beautiful view of the ocean and the sunset, so going there to recharge between classes is something I really enjoy.
