Out of State Business major who LOVES UGA and knows you will too!

Hi! I’m Chichi, a senior at the University of Georgia studying Finance and International Business. I’m originally from San Antonio, Texas, but after a few years here, Athens has definitely become a second home. One of my favorite parts of college has been getting to meet people from so many different backgrounds and finding a community that has made such a big school feel a lot smaller. Outside of class, I love staying active and trying new workout classes, traveling whenever I get the chance, making content, and exploring new restaurants and spots around town. I’m also very involved on campus, so I’m usually bouncing between classes, meetings, events, and spending time with friends. I’d describe myself as outgoing, curious, and always down to try something new. Whether it’s traveling somewhere I’ve never been, finding a new favorite restaurant, or just having a random conversation with someone I just met, I love experiences that let me connect with new people. I’m so excited to meet you and answer any and all questions you have about UGA!

Describe your college experience

Coming to UGA has been the best decision of my entire life. When I came here, I did not know anyone in the state of Georgia, as I am an out of state student from Texas and have no family here. However, it didn't take long to find community both socially and academically. There have been some natural difficulties along the way and the classes can be very challenging, but I do not regret a thing, and I love my school.

Tip for future students

I would tell future students to JOIN EVERYTHING. Even if you only have a slight interest in the club, JOIN. You never know what may peak your interest or where you may meet your best friends. And if the club ends up not being for you, it is perfectly okay to drop the organization and find something more suitable for you.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been my ILA Personal development course because we spend the entire semester learning about personalities and professionalism and how the two work together differently for each person. It was a nice change of pace because the majority of my classes are analytical, but this one was very personable, and I was able to learn certain social skills, that are not typically taught in schools.

Career goals

Post graduation, I will be working at Goldman Sachs in their Private Wealth Management division.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love to go out with friends. Downtown Athens has a great scene for restaurants, bars, and concerts, and there is never a shortage of things to do on a free night.

High school or secondary school

Ronald Reagan High School

Favorite spot on campus

Tate Student center is my favorite spot on campus because it is where I run into the most people I know. I love seeing friends in between long classes, because it helps the day go by faster. There are also always so many events and free goodies. I can go in there to study, socialize, eat, or just relax. The versatility of Tate makes it my go to spot.
