Neuroscience focused, track and field athlete and fine art photographer
Hi! My name is Nina and I'm a biopsychology major and track and field athlete at Tufts. I have lived in Austin, TX for the past 13 years although I'm originally from Milford, MA. I am very passionate about art of all types! I'm an annoyingly huge music enthusiast, I have worked as a fine art photographer for the past 5 years, and I love all things fashion. I also love being active and outside-running, hiking, playing soccer, boxing...you name it!

Describe your college experience
I had a particularly difficult transition into college. I was struggling to decide about whether I wanted to pursue art full time or stick with STEM in college. I decided on pursuing both STEM and art to the best of my ability and, since then, I have loved my time at Tufts. As I adjusted to a new life here, I met some really awesome people and started taking more classes that were more specific to my major all which made me more and more excited about my time at Tufts.
Tip for future students
Don't stress so much! Everyone says that you don't have to know what you want to do with your life, but I get that it still kind of seems like you have to. From my experience, l've found that very few people do know what they want to do and there is a lot of flexibility between changing majors and even entire career paths! Just try different things, take classes that you think might be interesting, and you'll figure it out!
Favorite class
Neurobiology has been my favorite class so far. It was one of the hardest classes l've taken, but it was so wildly interesting and my professor was so awesome that I felt like I was attending a TED Talk every week.
Career goals
I am planning to fully pursue both art and neuroscience. I want to research in biomechanics and hopefully do work that is meaningful and helps to build a better world. Artistically, I plan to continue photographing and being involved in fashion magazine production. These two paths will fluctuate, but both STEM and art will continue to be prominent in my life.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My friends call me a grandma and they're not wrong! My ideal free night is making dinner with friends and hanging out and talking together and finishing the night with an early bedtime and sudoku. My house hosts weekly dinners where we all bring new friends that the other housemates don't know. It's been a super awesome way to meet new people and build a community.
