I’m a second-year student at Northwestern studying Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences (MMSS) with a minor in Global Health. On campus, I’m an NU Family Ambassador, a Kaplan Humanities Scholar, and a Leopold Fellow conducting history research. I also live in Willard Residential College, where I serve as treasurer, and I’m actively involved in student government and student organizations. I love being part of the Northwestern community and look forward to sharing an authentic perspective on academics, student life, and getting involved on campus.

Describe your college experience

My college experience has been amazing so far! The people and campus community have been even more welcoming than I expected, which made my transition to college feel comfortable and exciting. Northwestern offers incredible resources and support, and I’ve always felt that there are people and opportunities available to help me succeed and explore new interests. One of my favorite parts of the experience has been meeting people with such diverse backgrounds, interests, and perspectives that make the Northwestern experience so enriching and unique.

Tip for future students

My biggest advice for future students is to try everything! Get involved not only in academic organizations, but also explore new hobbies and interests. Take advantage of the incredible resources and opportunities available, and make an effort to meet people outside of your major and usual circles, because you can learn so much from the variety of perspectives and experiences on campus. Also, be sure to explore Chicago! Having such an incredible city nearby is a unique part of the Northwestern experience and an amazing resource for culture, food, entertainment, and new experiences.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been my first-year writing seminar, Voices of the Enslaved. The course was very different from my core major classes, which gave me the opportunity to explore something new and reconnect with my interest in history. My experience in this class continued beyond the classroom, as my professor later wrote a recommendation for my major and became my research mentor.

Career goals

I’m interested in pursuing a career in finance or consulting, and I look forward to finding opportunities to combine these interests with my passion for global health. Ultimately, I hope to use my skills and experiences to address complex challenges and make a meaningful impact.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night would start with dinner at Forno Pizza in Norris University Center, followed by a show or performance by one of Northwestern’s many talented student groups. I’d end with a game night in the WFFL, the main common area of Willard Residential College, spending time with friends and enjoying the community that makes Willard feel like home!
