Mechanical Engineering Junior at UGA | Aerospace Certificate
I’m a junior mechanical engineering major at UGA with a certificate in aerospace. I recently interned at Metromont designing concrete form components, and outside of class I play violin in RUF’s worship band. I’m happy to share what engineering life at UGA is really like, from coursework to campus favorites like North Campus and Driftmier.

Describe your college experience
The jump from high school to college took some getting used to, mainly learning to manage my own time without anyone checking in on me. I’ve focused a lot on my coursework as a mechanical engineering major with an aerospace certificate, and that effort paid off when I got an internship at Metromont designing concrete form components. It was my first real chance to see how the stuff I learn in class actually gets used on the job. Outside of academics, I’ve stayed involved through RUF, playing violin in the worship band, which has been a good way to stay connected to something outside engineering.
Tip for future students
Get an internship as early as you can. It’s the best way to see how what you’re learning actually applies in the real world. And figure out good time management early on, because no one’s going to hold your hand through your schedule like they might have in high school.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been mechanical engineering design
Career goals
I’m hoping to end up working in the automotive industry after college, using my mechanical engineering background to work on cars in some capacity.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Honestly just spending time with friends, nothing fancy, just good company and a break from the grind of classes.
High school or secondary school
Harrison high school
Favorite spot on campus
North Campus, Sanford Stadium, and the Driftmier Building. North Campus has that old, historic UGA look with the oak trees that I really like. Sanford Stadium is unmatched on gamedays. And Driftmier is where I spend most of my time for classes, so it feels like home base at this point.
