Matthew Kim - Club Footballer, Pianist, and Faculty Scholar
I'm a junior double-majoring in Economics and Psychology with a minor in Music Performance (Piano). I'm a part of the club soccer team, the consulting club, and a bible study on campus. I'm also very involved in the music scene. I didn't know much about Bowdoin when I applied, but I'm so grateful I ended up here! I'd love to share my experience to see if Bowdoin might be the right fit.

Describe your college experience
I came into Bowdoin not knowing very much, other than that it was a small school with a good reputation. Transitioning to college was a bit difficult, but I feel very settled now. I've found the people here to be amazing, and I feel as though I'm constantly being pushed to excel in my academics, music, and career.
Tip for future students
- Don't try too hard to meet everyone in the first few weeks - Value your time, don't waste it - Try things out in your first year
Favorite class
My first year writing seminar was Personal Ethics, which I found really interesting. The content was engaging, the grading was tough, and I thought the professor was incredible at helping me improve my writing.
Career goals
I'm honestly not sure -- right now I'm considering startups or consulting
Ideal way to spend a free night
Hanging out with friends, and then leaving the pre-game early to play poker or a board game.
High school or secondary school
Princeton High School
Favorite spot on campus
Studzinski Recital Hall. It has everything you need -- couches, background music, practice rooms, bathrooms, and the convenience store is very close
Meeting point
In front of Bowdoin College Museum of Art on the Bowdoin College campus
