Katelyn | Rutgers University-New Brunswick | Biochemistry
Hi, I am Katelyn! My major is biochemistry and I am hoping to get into dental school. I am from North Jersey and I've lived either on campus or in off-campus housing for all my years at Rutgers University. I have been all around campus and love exploring new places with my friends, so I would say I know almost all the spots on campus. I am a retired procrastinator, it took a lot of time but I have learned to manage my time through college. I am now able to fit going to the gym, going to class, studying at the library, and hanging out with friends into every day. I would be so glad to show you to my favorite places on campus and give you my best advice on college life. I will do my best to answer any questions with the experience that I have gained since coming here.

Describe your college experience
My transition to college was pretty difficult because I had to start managing my own time and the tasks that I had to do. College is a lot more free than high school was so I had to navigate when to have fun and when to do my school work and study. Dorming also gave me so much freedom away from my parents and no super strict rules so managing my school work on my own was something I had to adapt to. I also had to learn how to be more independent because I depended on others a lot throughout my high school years.
Tip for future students
You have so much freedom to do anything so make sure you know how to manage your school work while also having fun, making friends, and going out with them. It may take some time to find your people in college because there are so many different people, but once you do you will have the best time in college. Also don't be afraid to ask anyone for help whether it is your advisor, professor, or another student, everyone needs help and its important to ask instead of staying confused.
Favorite class
Genetics has been my favorite class because I loved learning about why we have the traits that we do
Career goals
I hope to attend dental school after college.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is with my friends. We always come up with something to do whether that is going out to eat, going to parties, or staying in and cooking or watching a movie.
High school or secondary school
Roxbury High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite place on campus is the Yard on College Ave because it has so much there. Whenever I want something to eat or drink on campus that is the first place I go to because they have so many options.
