Junior Electrical Engineering Student @ University of Washington Seattle

Hey! I'm Vidya, and I am a Junior at the University of Washington Seattle studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. In college I've had to learn how to balance my rigorous coursework with Greek life, clubs, sports, and studying abroad. Outside of school I love hiking, skiing, concerts, spending time with friends, and exploring Seattle. Ask me about campus life, classes, applications, Seattle, or anything at all!

Describe your college experience

As an out-of-state student it was initially daunting to transition to college and navigate homesickness, but this feeling only lasted the first few weeks of my freshman year. Now, I couldn't be happier with my college experience—everything from my friends, clubs, courses, to living in Seattle itself.

Tip for future students

Trust the process! Whether you're applying to college, deciding between your options, or have already committed, keep an open mind. Everything will work out in the end.

Favorite class

While studying abroad last semester in Rome, I took an anthropology class on Italian food culture. We learned about the history of food in Italy, learned from numerous professionals in the food industry, and even got to take field trips to a pasta class, coffee lab, and natural winery. The class was very immersive and allowed to me to learn deeply about something I wouldn't get the chance to in America.

Career goals

After graduating, I hope to work full time as a computer engineer and maybe pursue a master's degree. This summer I am interning at a semiconductor company.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night involved playing pickleball with my teammates, into trying a new restaurant in Seattle with my friends, probably followed by a late night sweet treat run. I'm always down for anything as long as it's with people I love.
