JP
Hi! My name is Jann Pierre (or JP), and I'm a 1st-year student at UCF who looks forward to getting involved on campus. I'm passionate about music, leadership, and meeting new people. Outside of classes, I've been involved in band, mentoring younger students, and leading an entrepreneurship club. I enjoy helping others feel welcome, and I'm excited to share my experiences and show future students what makes our school such a great place.

Describe your college experience
Since starting Summer B, my transition to college has been pretty exciting and rewarding. Even though I'm still new, I've enjoyed getting to know the campus and taking the time to walk around to know where things are on campus. I'm looking forward to getting involved in student organizations, making the most of the opportunities here, and continuing to grow both academically and personally. So far, I will say, my experience has made me feel confident that I chose the right school.
Tip for future students
One piece of advice I would give to someone is to get involved early and not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Go to campus events you may like and introduce yourself to new people. College can feel overwhelming at first, but I realised early on that there are so many resources on this campus that are made for you to succeed. The more you put yourself out there, the more rewarding your experience will be.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been Enjoyment of Music. As a musician, I've always known how to read and perform music, but this class has given me a new appreciation for where it all comes from. It's been really interesting to learn about the history of different musical styles and how music has evolved over time. It's helped me connect to the past and appreciate music even more.
Career goals
After college, I plan to have my career involve business and entrepreneurship and focus on creating opportunities that can grow into long-term investments. A personal goal of mine is to eventually work toward owning and managing my own ventures, like real estate, so I can build financial independence and stability. I also plan to continue using my creativity and leadership skills in whatever path I pursue, while of course staying open to new opportunities that help me grow professionally.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is something I feel I have to earn after finishing all my assignments and responsibilities for the week. I usually like to either spend time with friends and unwind around campus or take a quiet night to myself to relax and gather my thoughts. To me it’s a good balance for me between being social and recharging so I can start the next week focused and refreshed
