Hi! I'm Isabel Dove! I love taking walks around campus and exploring which makes me well versed in the areas around campus. I am also quite the history geek and a huge foodie. I can fill you in on any of the numerous good spots to eat in Athens. I lived in the freshman dorms my first year, and I am living off campus now. I also play tennis a lot at the intermural courts in between visiting Ramsey for a workout! I am so excited to meet you!

Describe your college experience

I was able to move in to the freshma dorms, and it took me awhile to get fully organized. I met a lot of great people from my floor and from my classes which helped in making friends. I also go involved with Freshley and went on their beginning of semester retreat. I met a lot of my long term friends there who I hang out with daily. I had so much fun at the football games, and we always got there really early to get a seat. I even managed to get a job second semester, and I learned more about the world of hospitability and food service. I had a lot of amazing professors that really helped me learn things that will be crucial for my future career.

Tip for future students

Make sure you spend some time getting organized after moving in. There is nothing like starting off the year when your life is a mess. Also don't feel obligated to go to lots of Greek Life parties. There are many other ways to meet people. Join a club that relates to your majors that way you can start making not only connections, but meeting people that have similar interests as you. Additionally, introduce yourself to people in your class because its good to make study groups. The best thing that you can do for yourself is to try to listen during lectures no matter how boring. Also find a way to exercise in order to reduce stress and boost happiness.

Favorite class

My FYOS class was about the American Senate. It was taught by a very wise professor who was a Senate staff member. He has so much personal experience with the Senate and was able to give us insider information about how the Senate was run. He also knew lots of the Senators and a couple of Presidents and helped us think critically about policies from both sides of the aisle. This class encouraged me to add a political science minor.

Career goals

I want to work as the head of the marketing department for a luxury hotel or beauty brand.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I would say going to the Tate Starbucks and reading a book until it closes, and then joining friends and watching a movie in one of the dorm lounges (with snacks of course). On the opposite side, if I was feeling really energetic, I would go to Dukes and Dotties downtown (18+) and learn some line dances with friends.
