International engineer with campus hacks, Duke stories & love for sports

Hey everyone! I’m Robin from Prague, Czech Republic. I’m a rising sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering and considering a cinematography minor. On campus, I’m involved with Motorsports (powertrain) and rugby, but I also love playing basketball. I’m also a TA for Egr101 and was an Orientation Leader for freshmen, because for me upperclassmen were (and still are) the best resource on campus and I love to pass it onwards! I love showing the campus and all the engineering hacks, as well as some great study and relaxing spots to everyone and will happily answer any questions you may have!😁

Describe your college experience

Incredible, the community was extremely welcoming from the beginning, the Duke Orientation week enables an easy and enjoyable transition into college life and vast club options help each student find their place and fulfill their interests!

Tip for future students

Try anything that even remotely interests you, the commitment is very low in the behinning so nothing to lose.

Favorite class

Engineering 101, being able to work with a real client on a real problem is the essence of engineering in my opinion and I had so much fun collaborating and prototyping a solution with my teammates!

Career goals

Create a long lasting positive impact and travel the world with my girlfriend😄

Ideal way to spend a free night

Go play some pickup basketball with my friends at the gym, get a good dinner together and watch a movie/tv show (love sitcoms)

Favorite spot on campus

Bryan Center Plaza, especially on a sunny day, it gets very lively, full of energy and socializing, and I love sitting there talking to my friends and saying hi to people passing by!
