Insider who's been through the process, here to help you make the right choice
Hi! I'm Areen, a Biomedical Sciences student at USF on the pre-med track. I moved to Tampa from Delhi, India, so I know firsthand what it's like to navigate a brand-new city and campus from scratch, and I'd love to help make that process easier for you. Outside of classes, I coordinate shadowing and mentorship programs for pre-med students, so helping people find their footing at USF is kind of my thing. I speak English, Hindi, and Urdu, so feel free to ask me anything. No question is too small!

Describe your college experience
My college experience has been a rollercoaster so far. I have met so many different kinds of people and have learnt so much about myself already. I have found good friends and good teachers. I am still learning, but I think I am getting the hang of it now, and I'm super excited for the future!
Tip for future students
I wish I knew how hard it would be to make friends at first, so I would be prepared, and I wish I knew that the friends you make at first will not always stay with you. I would recommend searching up clubs and organisations prior to coming here and getting involved early. Same with professors: never skip classes (it really is addictive), attend office hours, and make connections early on.
Favorite class
Since my junior year, my favourite class has probably been general chemistry 2 or Biology 1 since they were subjects I had immense interest in, and i had great professors to thank for my good grades!
Career goals
I wish to go to medical school after college and concentrate on surgery. I have ambitions to be active in community service, and one goal I would like to achieve after college would be to volunteer with Doctors Without Borders someday. I also hope to start my own business/ practice one day.
Ideal way to spend a free night
i like to spend my free nights hanging out with my friends. We usually go to the gym, play tennis, swim, watch movies or just talk together. Sometimes we enjoy the night life in Tampa or explore the city. If I am not with them i like to hangout with my little sister or just chill in my bed and have a self care night in.
