Inquisitive, food enthusiast & quirky animal hugger that loves to study brains!
Nomoshkar! I’m Tulika and I am currently a pre-med Psychology major minoring in Sociology! I am very intrigued to meet all of you today! I am from wonderful this state, and live 40 minutes in a town named Ellicott City! If you have heard about it, I highly recommend munching at UMI sushi and having a milkshake at Crazy Mason! As you can tell I am very much a food lover and also love being active! You can always catch me at the humongous Eppley Recreation Center running those stair master or playing volleyball with friends! I would most definitely show that around in the tour! It is totally okay to feel nervous around this time hence you’re allowed to ask any questions throughout the tour to ease yourselves and I would show you what is it like to become a Terp today!

Describe your college experience
My transition was major since I hadn't had the best experience in high school hence I wanted to do well in college with brand new people in brand new area. I made tons of wonderful people and professors and I was able to control the timings of what classes to take, who to take it with, and spend my time accordingly to how I felt. I felt anxious at first since I am very much a perfectionist and want to make sure I do my best in every class however I have learned a lot about how to manage my time with my classes and still have fun at many on campus events.
Tip for future students
I think my one biggest advice for future college students is to put a lot of time and effort into everything to have the best experience at college. Join clubs, or sports, be apart of a frat/sorority, study aboard, find research, go to UMD events etc.
Favorite class
NEUR 200/PSYC 202 has been my favorite because I get to explore the biological side of psychology and learn a lot about the parts and its functions of a brain. I was able to witness technology used on the brain such as EEG scan, and grasp the understanding of many brain scans.
Career goals
I hope to do research focusing on the education system within neurodivergent populations, and help better the system or go to grad school focused in Cognitive Science.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is to either hang out with friends and go out partying or head to D.C for fun or if no one is available then chill at my apartment and watch my favorite childhood T.V shows.
High school or secondary school
Marriottsville High School
Previous college
University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC)
Favorite spot on campus
Performing Arts Library. Because I always like to work in a quiet space while studying.
