I’d describe myself as pretty chill, outgoing, and easy to talk to!
Hi! I’m Lucy, an Elementary Education major at MSU. I’m pretty chill, outgoing, and love being around people. Outside of school, I love cooking, going out to get food with friends, taking naps, and going on walks around campus. I’ve really enjoyed my time at MSU and I’m excited to share what makes it such a special place!

Describe your college experience
Starting college at Michigan State was definitely an adjustment, especially coming from a smaller hometown and high school. My first year was a lot of learning how to be independent, meet new people, manage my time, and figure out who I wanted to be. Since then, MSU has really started to feel like home. I’ve loved getting involved in the education program, meeting people who share my passion for teaching, and having so many opportunities to grow both personally and academically. Some parts of college have definitely been challenging, but overall, my experience at MSU has helped me become much more confident and independent, and I’m really excited for what the rest of my time here brings!
Tip for future students
Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! It can be scary starting college and meeting new people, but some of the best friendships and experiences come from saying yes and trying new things. Also, don’t stress about having everything figured out right away. Give yourself time to adjust, explore your interests, and find what makes college feel like home for you!
Favorite class
My favorite class has probably been my elementary education methods classes. I love them because they have given me the opportunity to take what I’ve learned at MSU and actually apply it to working with students. I’ve especially enjoyed the classes where I get to create lessons, work with classmates, and think about how to make learning fun and meaningful for kids. They’ve made me even more excited to become a teacher and have shown me how much I’ve grown throughout my time at MSU.
Career goals
After college, I hope to become an elementary school teacher, ideally teaching 3rd–6th grade. I’m especially passionate about creating a classroom where every student feels supported, included, and excited to learn. I’d also love to eventually have the opportunity to teach abroad and experience education in a different part of the world!
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night would be going out with my friends, getting good food, and just spending time together. I love trying new restaurants around East Lansing and finding fun things to do after. Honestly, good food and good company is my perfect night!

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is the Beal Botanical Garden! I love going there when I need a break from classes or just want a quiet place to walk around and relax. It’s such a beautiful and peaceful part of campus, especially when everything is in bloom. I also love that it feels like a little escape while still being right in the middle of campus. It’s one of those places that makes MSU feel really special!
