Describe your college experience

Transitioning to Vanderbilt has been an incredible experience! Coming from a very small school in Dallas and also taking a gap year after high school, I was excited but also nervous coming into a new environment. However, from the moment I arrived, I found a welcoming and supportive community that quickly made this campus feel like home. As a Child Development major with a Special Education minor, I've loved being in small classes surrounded by classmates and professors who share the same passion. My experience so far has helped me become more independent and connected, and I am excited to continue to make the most of everything Vanderbilt has to offer!

Tip for future students

My biggest piece of advice is to say yes to new opportunities, even if they're outside your comfort zone. Whether it's joining a new club, introducing yourself to someone new, or attending an event on campus, those experiences are often where you'll make the closest friends and create the best memories. It's also important to remember that everyone is in the same position, adjusting to something new, even if it doesn't seem like it. Don't be afraid to ask questions and take advantage of all the resources Vanderbilt has to offer. Make the most of every opportunity and cherish every moment!

Favorite class

My favorite class I took was Freshman Seminar, first semester Freshman year. It was a class with all the Freshman year Special Education majors. Every class, we listened to a new guest speaker who shared their experiences and the many career paths within the field of Special Education. This class opened my eyes to the wide variety of opportunities available andalso reinforcedd my passion for working with children.

Career goals

After graduating from Vanderbolt, I hope to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy, working with children to help build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in their daily lives. I'm eespeciallyinterested in pediatric occupational therapy because it combines my passion for child development and special education.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night is exploring a new restaurants in Nashville with friends, and then ending the night by watching a movie and making dessert. I love discovering new places around the city because Nashville has so much to offer.
