I love to be active on campus, as an out-of-state student from New Hampshire, coming to UCF was a huge change for me. I knew I had to get involved so I joined student government, Knight-Thon, Relay for Life, a pre-law fraternity, became a resident assistant, and recently chose to intern abroad through the school. I am very outgoing, and in my spare time enjoy lifting, boxing, playing instruments, and learning languages.

Describe your college experience

Throughout high school I had a great urge to travel far away for college. Despite these ambitions, I was terrified to leave my family and friends. The very first time that I stepped on campus in the Fall, I knew I had to put my fears to the back of my mind and make the most out of my experience. I tried absolutely everything! From latin dancing classes, to piano clubs, going to football games and tailgating, to attending important information sessions with higher ups at UCF. Eventually I found my people and my niche, and now I can comfortably say that Orlando has become a second home for me.

Tip for future students

Of course I am going to say, "try everything." I was the type of person in high school to become embarrassed easily, or think I was too cool for certain activities. You had to leave the shame behind sometimes and live your life how you want to live it. UCF is full of opportunities but you will have a chance at none of them if you are too afraid to try.

Favorite class

My favorite class is American History which I took my freshman year, first semester. The professor made that class so special for me because of the energy she brought. Part of the grade was participation, and for that she gave students the option of acting out historical events. This was exactly the type of push that forced me out of my shell, and I can confidently say that class left me with more than just knowledge about America.

Career goals

I will be taking a gap year after I graduate in the Spring and applying for law schools. I currently want to practice immigration law as a career but I suppose that is subject to change as I actually navigate the legal field.

Ideal way to spend a free night

One of the activities that brings me the most joy currently is performing music. I recently got involved with a band and although it isn't anything super serious, I love every little frustration and triumph involved with creating art with my friends. So I guess playing with them and having a great recording session, and then grabbing a bite to eat would be my ideal night.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on-campus is easily right outside The Burnett Honors College. My life is usually chaotic and I put myself in social situations on the regular, so any chance I get to head over to that fish pond and study or just take time to myself for a second is cherished.
