Describe your college experience
My college experience has been good so far; I've never met such a wide variety of people from such disparate backgrounds and lifeways. Even if most of them are from somewhere in California, the ability to all be in the same place and communicate is amazing when you realize the scope of the world and the people of it. My first semester was definitely the hardest and the classes I took I didn't totally enjoy, in part because of someone who's quite a bully. But I've also met some people who I know I'll regularly communicate with for the rest of my life in those months.
Tip for future students
I think it's really important to explore other parts of the Bay Area, both Berkeley and Oakland, San Francisco, etc. There's so much just in our area that I assume most are unaware of. There's the Oakland Zoo, great old movie theaters, even the oldest still open vivarium in the United States in Berkeley. Some great turtle friends there.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far at UC Berkeley has probably been my History 104 (Craft of History) course, specifically the discussion section, because of the camaraderie between the students and balance of discussion and sharing our historical research interests and hopes.
Career goals
I hope to stay somewhere in the Bay Area or somewhere in Oregon so I'm closer to my grandmother who lives in Oregon and hone both my art and writing, ideally selling the art that I make online.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I really like to watch movies, so probably watching something and talking about it with a friend. Maybe ordering out food as well. Basic but effective.
